  1. Make ready 700 g Pork Shoulder Steak cut into cubes
  2. Make ready 1 Large Onion chopped
  3. Prepare 3-4 cloves Garlic crushed and chopped
  4. Prepare 2 Fresh Tomatoes chopped
  5. Prepare 250 g Mung Beans (soaked in water for 2-4 hrs)
  6. Get 500 g King Prawns with Shell
  7. Take 1 bag Fresh Baby Spinach Leaves (or bag of fresh leafy salads lol)
  8. Take 1 handful Fresh Chillies or Chilli Flakes
  9. Get Seasoned with a splash of fish sauce and ground black pepper

Ginisang monggo is an ultimate comfort food and a staple in Filipino homes because it is a hearty Ginisang monggo is made of softened mung beans, mixed with vegetables, edible leaves like.   2. Add the Mung Beans, stirring. Then add about 2-3 cupful a of water. Boil and lower the heat.
  3. Cook further until the beans are thoroughly cooked and soft and meat is tender. Water should be a lot less by now.
  4. Add the chilli flakes or fresh Chillies, then also add the prawns. Cooked further until prawns had changed colours (don’t overcooked the prawns as you don’t want to eat a rubbery textured prawns).
  5. Mix in the fresh or frozen baby spinach leaves or like what I did, fresh salad leaves lol. (Didn’t realise I got no spinach leaves so I used what I have in the fridge). Turn off heat.
  6. Seasoned with ground black pepper and fish sauce sparingly.
  7. Enjoy and add some pork scratchings and chopped spring onions as garnished. Xx

Mung beans are commonly used in Chinese cuisine, in Indonesia, they are called. Ginisang Munggo (Sauteed Mung Beans) is as Filipino as it gets. Favorite dish to go with fried galunggong (round scad).
