The ingredients needed to make Kakara Pitha:
  1. Take For the outer covering of kakara pitha
  2. Take 1 bowl Semolina
  3. Make ready 2 tsp Sugar
  4. Make ready 2 tsp Ghee
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp Salt
  6. Prepare 1 tsp Fennel seeds (sounf)
  7. Make ready For the kakara pitha stuffing
  8. Get 1/2 cup Freshly grated coconut
  9. Make ready 1/4 cup Sugar
  10. Get 1 tsp Freshly grounded black pepper
  11. Take 1 tsp Cardamom powder
Steps to make Kakara Pitha:
  1. In a karahi boil 3 bowls of water with sugar, salt, fennel seeds and desi ghee.
  2. Put semolina in the karahi and stir continuously on a slow flame till it starts coming together and a ball is formed.
  3. Remove the mixture in a plate and allow it to cool for 15 minutes.
  4. Grease your palms with a little ghee and knead the mixture well in a dough.
  5. Making kakara pitha stuffing : heat a non stick karahi. Add grated coconut, sugar, black pepper and cardamom powder. Stir continuously till sugar melts in the karahi and mixture turn brown.
  6. Divide semolina dough into 8 equal portions.
  7. Take a portion and make a ball. Flatten each ball in the form of a disc.
  8. Put the stuffing in the centre and cover it by bringing the edges folding in the centre.
  9. Now make ball again and flatten it in the form of small disc.
  10. Repeat the process with all balls.
  11. Now heat oil in a karahi and put 2 Kakara Pitha in oil and fry till golden brown colour.
  12. Flip when one side is golden brown.
  13. Remove from the flame when done and place on absorbent sheet and serve hot.
