The ingredients needed to make Prawns ularthiyadh:
  1. Prepare 250 gms prawns king peeled
  2. Prepare 1 tbsp ginger and galic crushed each
  3. Take 1 tbsp chilly kashmiri red powder
  4. Prepare 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  5. Take 1/2 tbsp corriander powder
  6. Make ready 1/2 tsp fennel powder
  7. Prepare 2 / kokumkudam puli (soaked in water for 10 mins) pieces
  8. Prepare 1/4 cup coconut pieces / thengha kothu
  9. Take 2 onion thinely sliced
  10. Take 6 / shallotskunjulli
  11. Make ready 2 sprigs curry leaves
  12. Take 3 tbsps coconut oil
  13. Make ready to taste salt

Wash it and keep it ready. Chemmeen Ularthiyathu is a dry preparation of Shrimp/Prawns which uses Fish Tamarind (Kudam Pulli). A prawn dish made in the Central Travancore style. Mix chilli, coriander, turmeric, and pepper powders.

Instructions to make Prawns ularthiyadh:
  1. Wash and clean the prawns.drain it and keep it aside.
  2. Add half of the ginger,garlic,chilli (half of it)  turmeric powder,kokum,thengha kothu,salt  and curry leaves.mix well using your hands.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add finely sliced small onion an fry till it becomes golden brown.
  4. Add remaining ginger,garlic,curry leaves and onion.saute till the onion becomes light brown.add the remaining chilli powder,coriander powder and fennel powder..And fry till the raw smell goes and oil starts appearing.
  5. Add marinated prawns and salt.
  6. Cook the prawns in medium flame till the water is dried and prawns are well coated with masala (don't over cook the prawns).by stirring it in between.
  7. Serve with appam,pathiri and rice
