The ingredients needed to make Apple strudel:
Get 8 medium apples
Get 500 g puff pastry
Prepare 1-2 handfuls sultanas
Make ready 1-2 handfuls crushed walnuts
Make ready 2 tbsp sugar
Take Shot rum
Prepare 2 tbsp cinnamon
Take Oil
Take 2 tbsp plain flour
Make ready 1 small egg
Make ready 4 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
Instructions to make Apple strudel:
Peel and grate the apples
Mix with crushed walnuts, sultanas, cinnamon, rum and sugar
Powder a bit of plain flour on a flat surface, put the puff pastry on the top, powder it again and roll it into a size of your baking tray
Oil the puff pastry as little as possible. This is to prevent liquid from the apples from leaking out from the loaf while baking. You can also sprinkle it with chia seeds.
Layer half of the apple mixture on the puff pastry
Roll as if you were rolling a maki sushi, then fold both ends facing the middle and put the loaf folds down
Use the other half of ingredient to make another loaf
Spread a thin layer of egg on the loafs. This will give them a nice brown colour.
Put in the oven for 20 minutes on 180°C / 356°F
Put egg on the loafs once again half way through the baking
When it cools down, optionally dust with icing sugar over a fine sieve. Cut diagonally into thick slices with a bread knife and enjoy 😋
