  5. Put sliced onion and chillies… saute well
  6. Add curry leaves
  7. Once onion changes colour, add ginger garlic paste. Mix well. Let it fry for two mins so that the raw smell is gone
  8. Now, add sliced brinjal and mix well. Let it sautee for 3-4mins
  9. Add soaked chana Dal. Mix well
  10. Now, add salt as required. Mix well
  11. Cook with a lid on for 10-12mins. No need to add water
  12. Now that brinjal and dal are cooked completely, add chilli powder. Mix well
  13. Add garam masala. Mix well and take off the stove
  14. Serve with hot rice or roti
